They both tell compelling stories that captivate their audience. So let's see how film storytelling techniques can transform your nomination from a standard submission into an engaging narrative, but with a zero budget.

The three-act structure: your project nomination's secret weapon

Act 1: The Setup
  • What? Establish the challenge or opportunity your association faced. What was the situation before your initiative? What needs were you addressing?
  • Why? This creates context and helps judges understand why it was important for you to undertake this project.
  • Where? Add this to "Why is this project being nominated?"
Act 2: The Journey
  • What? Detail your objectives, approach and resources deployed.
  • Why? This is where you showcase your association's strategic thinking, action-taking and resilience.
  • Where? Split this into two sections: "Project goals" and "Activities."
Act 3: The resolution
  • What? Reveal the measurable achievements and impact this project had. Quantify your success where possible, add any innovative approaches to your project and include testimonials that bring your achievements to life.
  • Why? This is your opportunity to demonstrate how successful your initiative was and showcase your strategic and innovative thinking. Also, discuss the challenges you encountered  - overcoming them is what makes for a compelling story!
  • Where? Add this to the "Success metrics", "Innovation" and "Testimonials" sections.
