Scotland Food & Drink launches enhanced membership programme to support industry growth

The revamped membership programme aims to foster sustainable growth and collaboration within Scotland's food and drink sector by offering tailored benefits for businesses of all sizes.

Scotland Food & Drink has unveiled an enhanced membership programme designed to support the growth and development of businesses across the nation's food and drink sector. The new offering, revealed today, includes tailored benefits aimed at fostering sustainable growth and collaboration, while reinforcing Scotland’s position as a premier food and drink producer.

Having served as a pivotal industry leadership body for over 15 years, Scotland Food & Drink plays a central role in connecting businesses, government entities, and key partners. The enhanced membership model aligns closely with the aspirations outlined in the 10-year national food and drink strategy titled Sustaining Scotland. Supplying the World, which strives to cultivate a more resilient, responsible, and sustainable sector.

The refreshed membership programme features six distinct tiers catering to various sizes of food and drink producers, ranging from start-ups to large-scale enterprises with turnovers surpassing £15 million. Notably, for the first time, a dedicated membership package is being introduced specifically for hospitality businesses, reflecting the programme's adaptability to the diverse needs of the sector.

Among the highlights of the revamped membership offering is the introduction of a dedicated online member portal, which aims to facilitate improved access to resources and benefits. Members will also receive invitations to high-profile networking events designed to foster connections and collaboration within the industry. This core membership framework is strategically tailored to assist businesses in forging stronger relationships and achieving long-term success in an increasingly competitive market.

In addition to the main membership categories, Scotland Food & Drink is also focusing on the needs of affiliate members. This group will now benefit from a wider array of exclusive offerings, including access to national engagement events, personalised support from a business development manager, and opportunities to connect with producer members, thereby enhancing the community's collective strength.

Iain Baxter, CEO of Scotland Food & Drink, emphasised the significance of the food and drink industry to Scotland’s economy, stating that it is “world-renowned for its quality, heritage, and innovation.” He acknowledged that the organisation unites businesses of all dimensions—from producers and suppliers to retailers and food service executives—to facilitate sustainable growth and enhance market prospects. Baxter further articulated that the new membership model reflects the diverse landscape of businesses that constitute the sector and presents customised benefits designed to assist them in flourishing.

Adding to this, Tracy Cameron, the Head of Membership & Commercial at Scotland Food & Drink, highlighted the organisation's commitment to supporting the vibrant and innovative businesses that characterise the industry. She noted, “Our members represent the vibrant, innovative and passionate businesses that make Scotland’s food and drink industry so unique.” Cameron outlined that by working closely with existing members, the organisation has been able to comprehend the changing dynamics and challenges faced within the sector, which has allowed them to tailor their offerings to better support businesses aiming for sustainable growth and market reach.

Scotland Food & Drink is excited about the future and anticipates welcoming more members into their growing community, signalling a positive development for the Scottish food and drink sector.
