PMI confirms dates for Global Summit Series Africa 2025 in Rwanda

The Project Management Institute announces the Global Summit Series Africa 2025, set for August 19-21 at the Kigali Convention Centre, focusing on collaboration and innovation in project management.

The Project Management Institute (PMI), acknowledged globally as a leader in project management, has confirmed the dates for its eagerly awaited Global Summit Series Africa 2025. The event is scheduled to take place from August 19 to 21, 2025, at the Kigali Convention Centre in Rwanda. This marks a significant return for the summit, which was postponed in 2024, and positions it as the only event of its kind in Africa.

The PMI Global Summit Series Africa serves as a pivotal platform for stakeholders who are instrumental in shaping the landscape of project management on the continent. The summit aims to foster collaboration, innovation, and the development of necessary skills among professionals in the field. According to George Asamani, Managing Director of PMI Sub-Saharan Africa, “The decision to return to Rwanda was a natural one, as the country reflects key values that drive successful project management — innovation, resilience, and a commitment to progress.” He continued, speaking to The Guardian, “We also wanted to honour our commitment to project professionals in Rwanda and ensure that the efforts of the community in organising PMI Global Summit Series Africa were not in vain.”

The theme for the upcoming summit is “Africa On Purpose: Gather. Grow. Guide,” emphasising the intention to bring together industry leaders, executives, and government representatives aimed at accelerating the role of project management in fostering Africa's development. This expansion of the agenda will include a variety of expert-led discussions designed to engage project professionals at all levels.

Rwanda, recognised for its exemplary infrastructure and status as a prime conference destination, provides a fitting backdrop for the summit. Attendees can expect thought-provoking keynote addresses, industry-focused panels, and collaborative discussions addressing pressing topics such as artificial intelligence, digital transformation, and sustainability. These subjects are increasingly pertinent in the context of modern project management and will be central to the conversations at the summit.

In addition to keynote speakers and expert panels, participants will have the opportunity to engage in interactive workshops and masterclasses that aim to equip them with practical skills tailored to meet the challenges and complexities encountered in contemporary projects. This hands-on approach is designed to enhance the learning experience and provide attendees with the tools necessary to excel in their roles.

The return of the Global Summit Series to Rwanda not only serves to highlight the country’s role in the project management community but also reinforces PMI's commitment to ensuring that project professionals across Africa have access to resources and networks that will strengthen their capabilities. The extensive planning and collaboration that have gone into this event underscore the importance of such initiatives in empowering project managers and organisations.

As anticipation builds for the Global Summit Series Africa 2025, the PMI is poised to create a more impactful, relevant, and future-focused experience than ever before. The summit promises to be a significant event for all professionals in the project management sphere, solidifying its importance within Africa's ongoing development.
