Investment Companies Union partners with CFA Institute to enhance finance training in Kuwait

A new cooperation agreement will introduce advanced training programs and certifications for investment professionals in Kuwait, aiming to boost global competitiveness.

In a strategic move to bolster human competencies in the investment and finance sectors in Kuwait, the Investment Companies Union has formalised a cooperation agreement with the CFA Institute. This agreement aims to enhance the competitiveness of the local market on a global scale, focusing on the development of advanced training programs and prestigious certifications tailored to meet industry needs.

The signing ceremony took place through the Investment Studies Center, which operates as the training arm of the Investment Companies Union. This initiative is designed to equip professionals in the investment sector with cutting-edge knowledge and skills derived from best global practices, thereby reinforcing their ability to contribute effectively to the development of the financial market.

Faisal Mansour Sarqoh, the Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Investment Companies Union and Chairman of the Investment Studies Center, expressed pride in the partnership with the CFA Institute, a leading global entity in financial and investment training. Speaking to Kuwait News, Sarqoh stated, “Through this collaboration, we aim to equip investment professionals with the required competencies and enhance a culture of professional excellence that adds value to the national economy and contributes to achieving the goals of Kuwait Vision 2035.”

The CFA Institute is recognised for granting certifications that are considered an international standard in the investment sector. Their training covers a range of critical areas, including financial analysis, risk management, and responsible investing. This collaboration is expected to prepare local professionals to keep pace with global changes and enhance the overall competitiveness of Kuwait’s financial community.

The cooperation will offer three global certifications:

  1. Investment Foundations Certificate: This certification provides a well-rounded understanding of the investment industry, covering essential concepts and ethical considerations. It aligns with the foundational principles found in Level I of the CFA Program, catering to individuals aiming to deepen their knowledge of investments and further their careers in finance.

  2. Private Equity Certificate: Aimed at analysts and partners in private equity firms, this intermediate-level certification involves specialised curricula developed in conjunction with Financial Edge. It equips participants with the skills to construct financial models for leveraged buyouts and analyse investments in private markets, thereby increasing professionalism in the private equity domain.

  3. Private Markets and Alternative Investments Certificate: This certification offers insights into various alternative investment strategies, such as private equity, private credit, and hedge funds. It aims to provide a competitive edge, enhancing participants' understanding of evolving investment landscapes and preparing them to meet the demands of today’s investors.

To support participants throughout their training journey, the Investment Companies Union, via the Investment Studies Center, will facilitate ongoing mentorship and provide access to educational resources. Furthermore, a dedicated registration page will be made available in collaboration with the CFA Institute, allowing easier enrolment for professionals seeking these certifications.

Ms. Fadwa Darwish, Secretary General of the Investment Companies Union, noted the union's commitment to guiding professionals at various career stages. She emphasised the importance of supporting individuals as they navigate critical moments in their careers, highlighting the provision of necessary resources and training to empower them towards success.

The collaboration underscores the union's dedication to establishing a competitive and sustainable business environment within Kuwait’s investment sector, adhering to global training standards. This partnership aims not only to enhance individual competence but also to contribute to Kuwait's economic development by nurturing a new generation of skilled professionals, aligning with the objectives of Kuwait Vision 2035. Overall, this agreement reflects a comprehensive approach to fostering a robust financial sector capable of navigating the complexities of modern financial markets.
