BVRLA launches women's voices in fleet public speaking course

The British Vehicle Rental and Leasing Association introduces a new initiative to enhance public speaking skills among women within its membership.

The British Vehicle Rental and Leasing Association (BVRLA) has unveiled a new initiative aimed at empowering women within its membership through enhanced public speaking skills. The "Women’s Voices in Fleet" course, designed by the Association of Fleet Professionals (AFP), is set to take place on 19-20 March 2025, offering participants the opportunity to develop confidence and clarity in public speaking across various contexts.

Public speaking anxiety is a common issue that often hinders individuals from sharing their knowledge and experiences, leading to both professional and personal challenges. The Women’s Voices in Fleet course provides attendees with structured guidance and practical tools to foster ongoing development in this crucial area.

This programme represents a significant step forward in the collaboration between the BVRLA and the AFP, marking an expansion that follows the introduction of their inaugural joint training initiative last month.

Mark Pow, the head of learning and development at the BVRLA, stated, “As a sector we are making a lot of positive strides to make it a more inclusive environment where everyone can flourish. The Women’s Voices in Fleet course is a great way to accelerate that progression. We are fortunate to have incredible individuals working across the BVRLA membership; this course will help to make sure they can all have their voices heard.”

In addition, Ronnie Gillman, training manager at the AFP, expressed enthusiasm about the continuing partnership with BVRLA, noting, “We are pleased to be expanding our collaboration with the BVRLA. Together, we are making vital resources available to more individuals working in fleet, expanding those opportunities to raise knowledge and standards. The salary sacrifice training we recently delivered in conjunction with the BVRLA was very popular with our members. The Women’s Voices in Fleet course has the power to change lives and careers and we are delighted to be giving more industry colleagues the opportunity to develop their full potential.”

The two-day course costs £650 and additional details can be found on the BVRLA's official website.
