BESA appoints Kevin Morrissey as new technical director
The Building Engineering Services Association (BESA) has appointed Kevin Morrissey, the managing director at HE Simm Engineering, as its new technical director. This appointment marks a significant step in Morrissey's career, as he brings over 35 years of extensive industry experience to the role.
Morrissey's tenure at HE Simm lasted nearly six years, during which he held various technical and operational leadership roles. His previous positions include notable companies such as Wates, Lorne Stewart, NG Bailey, and Axima/Sulzer Infra. He began his professional journey in 1989, starting as an apprentice with Matthew Hall where he qualified as a building services engineer.
In addition to his new role, Morrissey previously served as the chair of BESA's technical committee since 2023. In this capacity, he was instrumental in overseeing the Association’s continuous production of technical guidance and advice. Notably, he played a key role in BESA’s response to the Building Safety Act and contributed to discussions surrounding vital issues such as the decarbonisation of heat, indoor air quality, and the evolving use of refrigerants within cooling technologies.
Morrissey succeeds Graeme Fox, who has transitioned to become the scheme director at the FGas Register, continuing a focus on advancing technical knowledge within the engineering services sector.
