AFP announces 2025 conference focused on the evolving role of fleet managers

The Association of Fleet Professionals is set to host its annual conference on 7 May 2025, exploring the changing dynamics in fleet management amid technological and regulatory advancements.

The Association of Fleet Professionals (AFP) has announced its upcoming conference, which is poised to be a significant event on the fleet management calendar. Scheduled for Wednesday, 7 May 2025, the conference will be hosted at the British Motor Museum in Gaydon, drawing an expected attendance of around 250 members from the fleet sector.

The central theme for this year’s gathering focuses on the evolving profile of the fleet manager, reflecting the changing dynamics within the industry amidst regulatory advancements and technological innovations. The event is being sponsored by leading entities, Enterprise Mobility and Ayvens, highlighting the prominent role that industry partnerships play in facilitating such gatherings.

Attendees can anticipate a robust agenda comprising expert-led sessions and panel discussions that will tackle a variety of pressing issues relevant to fleet management. Topics set for exploration include compliance strategies, the importance of data-driven decision-making, emerging legislative changes particularly relevant to the fleet sector over the ensuing 18 months, and the evolving roles that fleet professionals will need to adopt in response to a changing landscape.

One of the highlights of the conference will be a keynote address from representatives of the Office for Zero Emission Vehicles, addressing the critical shift towards sustainable practices in fleet operations. Furthermore, the event will culminate in a ceremony that will recognise the achievements of members who have successfully obtained accreditations from the AFP Academy during the past year, an initiative intended to elevate professional standards within the industry.

Paul Hollick, the chair of the AFP, emphasised the importance of the conference in the context of the fleet industry. Speaking to Van Fleet World, Hollick noted this event marks the fourth conference since the merger of the Association of Car Fleet Operators (ACFO) with the Institute of Car Fleet Management (ICFM). He stated, “The event has become widely recognised as one of the highlights of the fleet industry calendar, tackling the issues of the moment in an informed and practical manner.”

Hollick expressed his enthusiasm about enhancing the conference experience this year, highlighting the significance of acknowledging the fleet manager's evolving role during what he described as an "unprecedented moment of change for vehicle operators." He further commented on the critical contribution of AFP members, saying, “Our members play an essential position in some of the most important aspects of corporate life.”

In appreciation of the sponsors, Hollick added, “Support of this kind is what makes events such as the AFP Conference possible, and we’re very grateful for their involvement.”

Registration for the conference remains open to all AFP members, providing an opportunity for professionals within the sector to engage with the latest insights and developments affecting fleet management. More information about the event, including registration details, can be found on the AFP’s official channels, ensuring that members are equipped with the necessary knowledge and networking opportunities to thrive within the industry.
