ACCA and ACFE partner to combat business fraud

The ACCA and ACFE have signed a three-year memorandum of understanding to enhance collaboration on fraud prevention, including joint research and professional development initiatives, reinforcing their commitment to ethical standards in business practices.

The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) and the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE) have officially established a partnership aimed at addressing business fraud through a newly signed memorandum of understanding (MoU). The agreement will initially span three years and is intended to further collaborative research efforts between the two organisations.

The MoU is set to facilitate joint research projects and the development and delivery of professional development programmes, including continuing professional development and continuing professional education. This collaboration represents a strategic step towards enhancing educational initiatives and thought leadership focused on fraud prevention within the business sector.

Helen Brand, the chief executive of ACCA, expressed enthusiasm for the partnership, saying, “ACCA has had a long-standing commitment to empowering members to better address and manage fraudulent activities, focused on improving risk assessment, robust controls and forensic auditing. This MoU reinforces that commitment. We look forward to working with fellow global professional body ACFE in promoting the highest ethical business standards.”

The alliance will not only build upon existing research initiatives but also kickstart future publications, including an upcoming ACCA release centred on fraud prevention strategies.

John Warren, the CEO of ACFE, remarked on the significance of the partnership, stating, “Together, ACFE and ACCA memberships include thousands of professionals in countries around the world. This strategic partnership between our organisations is a natural fit in pursuit of one common goal: fighting fraud. Teaming up with ACCA opens many doors to collaboration, thought leadership and more. We’re thrilled for the bright future that lies ahead.”

The ACCA and ACFE's collaboration is expected to enhance the quality and accessibility of resources available to professionals working in finance and fraud examination, ultimately aiming to bolster the fight against fraudulent activities in various business environments.
