About the Organisation
Institute of Biomedical Science (IBMS) is seeking an innovative and detail-oriented Website Manager to lead the exciting migration of our website to a new platform and provide ongoing support across our digital properties. This role goes beyond typical website management by shaping the future of how our members and the public interact with IBMS online
About the role
Website Manager, you’ll take the reins on migrating our website to a new platform, strategizing every step from planning through execution and collaborating with key stakeholders across the organization. Beyond the migration, you’ll oversee the day-to-day management of all IBMS websites, ensure seamless integration with external software systems, and work closely with the Communications Team to keep content engaging, accessible, and brand-consistent.
This role will allow you to drive improvements that make a real impact enhancing our user experience, optimizing content for SEO, and creating data-informed recommendations to boost audience engagement. With a strong focus on user experience, accessibility, and legal compliance, you’ll play a critical role in making IBMS’s digital presence the best it can be.
Responsibilities
Website Migration and Development:
- Migration of the IBMS website to a new platform and provider.
- Develop and manage the strategy for this move.
- Report progress to key stakeholders such as Council, Executives, staff, and members.
- Oversee all future website development projects after the new site launches.
- Collaborate with other departments to integrate external systems like eLearning and CPD with the website CMS and CRM.
Website and App Management:
- Manage the day-to-day operations of all IBMS websites.
- Superuser for the Communications Team, providing administrative support and training.
- Coordinate with the Communications Team on website changes and strategies to drive member engagement.
- Support the Events and Engagement Officer in developing the events platform.
- Manage the IBMS Congress website, ensuring event content and third-party links are updated.
- Primary contact for website and app issues and liaise with external providers to resolve problems.
- Ensure brand consistency across the site and assist in implementing website guidelines.
- Lead website reviews to improve user experience and engagement.
- Stay compliant with SEO, accessibility, and legal guidelines like GDPR.
Content and Analytics Management:
- Optimise website content for SEO and guide the Communications Team on content quality.
- Website development projects, ensuring software was updated and functional.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure web pages are accurate and up-to-date.
- Gather and analyze website statistics to assess user trends and make recommendations.
- Use Google Analytics (GA4) to measure content performance and provide insights.
- Identify and test new ways to present information to increase audience engagement.
Other Responsibilities:
- Commit to the broader responsibilities as assigned by the line manager, adhering to IBM's policies.
- Maintain respectful and dignified interactions with colleagues and stakeholders.
- Occasionally travel within the UK for work-related events or duties.
- Ensure compliance with all data protection, copyright, and accessibility laws.
- Stay informed about professional developments in website management.
- Other tasks and duties as requested by the line manager in line with departmental or organizational workload and priorities.
- Commitment to carry out the responsibilities of the post with due regard to IBMS policies and to treat colleagues and other IBMS stakeholders with respect and dignity at all times.
- Occasional travel, including overnight stays, within the UK.
Skills & Competencies
Skills, Experience & Attributes:
- 3 years experience in website management.
- Project managing and leading a move to a new website platform.
- Experience with one or more website Content Management Systems.
- Experience in using monitoring tools including Google Analytics.
- Preside - Content Management System and Events Management System.
- Experience in managing a member’s area of a website and creating strategies to drive engagement.
- Understanding of Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) and User Experience (UX) to enhance content and engagement.
- Knowledge of tagging and enhancing website searches.
- Able to write reports to show patterns of engagement and to lead on a strategy to improve the UX.
- Able to write, interpret, and edit HTML scripts.
- Excellent creative, verbal, and written communication skills
- Ability to use analytics tools to ensure maximum audience engagement
- Ability to work proactively using own initiative, prioritize work, and meet deadlines, with well-developed time management skills
- Develop productive relationships within and outside the team.
Desirable:
- Professional qualification in website management
- Proven record of creating effective content for a professional body/scientific organization and equivalent for at least three years.
- Microsoft Dynamics CRM experience
- Experience in managing website content for member, corporate, public, media, and government audiences.
- Knowledge of the healthcare market.
Required Qualifications
- BSc Hon's Degree in IT Level Standard Equivalent Professional Experience
