About the Organisation

Grain and Feed Trade Association (Gafta) is an international trade association that represents organizations trading in agricultural commodities, particularly grain, feed, rice, pulses, and general produce. Established in 1878, Gafta provides a range of services to its members, which include traders, brokers, superintendents, analysts, arbitrators, and other professionals involved in the global agricultural trade. Gafta is an international trade association with over 1900 members in 98 countries. We aim to promote international trade in agricultural commodities, spices, and general produce and protect our members’ interests worldwide.

About the role

Training and Events Manager at the Grain and Feed Trade Association (Gafta), your primary responsibility is to oversee the development, coordination, and execution of educational programs and events that serve the international trade of grain, feed, and cereals. This role is pivotal in ensuring that Gafta's members and stakeholders receive high-quality training and networking opportunities.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a well-established and highly regarded London-based international membership organization. Joining a small & dedicated team, you will be responsible for the end-to-end delivery of a large program of international training and events. With at least 4 years experience of in managing multiple events, you will be highly organized, a good team player, confident & adaptable to the diverse needs of a global events program and small organization.

Gafta runs anywhere between 20 – 40 training courses, committee meetings, networking, and other events throughout the year. Most events are smaller, with numbers between 15 – 45, however, a few are larger, including the Annual Dinner which attracts 450 – 500 each year. The ideal candidate will be adept at ‘plate spinning’, a great communicator, and bring ideas for streamlining processes to the table.

Responsibilities

Program Development:

  • Design and develop a diverse range of educational events, including one-day seminars, workshops, and structured training programs, tailored to the needs of professionals in the grain and feed trade industry. 

Event Coordination: 

  • Manage all logistical aspects of events, such as venue selection, scheduling, and coordination with speakers and facilitators, to ensure seamless execution.

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Collaborate with industry experts, members, and internal teams to identify training needs and develop content that is both relevant and valuable.

Budget Management:

  • Oversee the financial aspects of training programs and events, ensuring cost-effectiveness and adherence to budgetary constraints.

Marketing and Promotion:

  • Develop and implement marketing strategies to promote events and training programs, aiming to maximize participation and engagement.

Quality Assurance:

  • Evaluate the effectiveness of training programs through feedback and assessments, making continuous improvements to maintain high standards.

Compliance and Standards:

  • Ensure that all events and training activities comply with relevant industry regulations and Gafta's internal policies.

Skills, Competencies & Experience

  • Proven experience in managing educational programs and events, preferably within a trade association or similar organization.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of engaging with a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in using event management software and virtual event platforms.
  • Familiarity with the grain and feed trade industry is advantageous but not mandatory.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Event Management, Education, and Business Administration, in a related field.
