About the Organisation

Autism Know How (AKH) delivers a range of products aimed at supporting professionals/developing best autism practice. These products have evolved over several years from initially being core-funded activities to now being surplus-generating. The department brings together the National Autistic Society's commercial trading services, which include: Training, Consultancy and Conferencing, Autism Accreditation, The Autism Education Trust, and The Assessment and Diagnostic Service. There is also a Business Development and Customer Relations team, and some funded, non-income-generating projects

Responsibilities

Marketing and Comms:

  • Develop and oversee the implementation of a high-impact marketing and communications strategy to promote Autism Know How’s products and services, ensuring alignment with the National Autistic Society’s mission and long-term objectives.
  • Direct and manage the execution of comprehensive marketing plans, setting clear objectives, defining target audiences, and overseeing cross-channel campaign implementation.
  • Leading on and developing marketing materials, leading the design process, and preparing creatives.
  • Lead the planning and execution of national marketing campaigns, ensuring they meet key performance targets and contribute to growth and engagement objectives.
  • Regularly report to senior leadership on marketing and communications performance, providing strategic insights and recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Manage the Autism Know How marketing budget, ensuring optimal resource allocation and alignment with strategic objectives.

Brand:

  • Lead the strategic development and execution of Autism Know How’s brand positioning, ensuring consistency and impact across all communication channels.
  • Own and oversee all brand development initiatives, ensuring Autism Know How is recognised as a thought leader in autism best practice across various sectors, including Health, Social Care, Education, and Corporate.
  • Direct the creation of high-quality brand and marketing assets, ensuring a compelling and distinctive brand identity that enhances market visibility and trust.
  • Collaborate with key internal stakeholders to embed Autism Know How’s brand values and messaging, ensuring consistency across all external-facing materials and engagements

Insight:

  • Develop and lead a comprehensive audience and market insight strategy, ensuring all marketing decisions are informed by data-driven intelligence.
  • Oversee the collection, analysis, and application of customer, competitor, and market data, ensuring Autism Know How's marketing approach is responsive to industry trends and stakeholder needs. · Implement and manage audience segmentation models, ensuring marketing strategies are effectively tailored to key customer groups to enhance engagement and conversion.
  • Lead on reporting key performance insights to senior leadership, making strategic recommendations based on market analysis and audience behaviour.
  • Champion the use of data-driven decision-making across Autism Know How, ensuring robust measurement frameworks and KPIs drive continuous marketing improvement.

Digital Marketing:

  • Develop and oversee targeted digital marketing campaigns across multiple platforms, including social media, email, and paid advertising, to drive engagement and customer acquisition.
  • Oversee the development and execution of a data-driven audience engagement strategy, leveraging analytics to optimise marketing activities.
  • Implement and oversee data analytics and performance tracking, ensuring digital marketing activities are continuously optimised for effectiveness and impact
  • Lead on marketing automation and CRM integration, ensuring effective tracking and conversion of leads into customers.

Skills, Competencies, & Experience

Experience:

  • At least 5 years of experience in developing successful marketing strategies
  • Experience with high-profile national marketing campaigns
  • Experience in strategic thinking and planning
  • Experience of running paid advertising campaigns
  • Autism and charity sector experience
  • Experience in marketing commercial products.

Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of marketing communications
  • Knowledge of digital marketing
  • Knowledge of data analytics tools to drive marketing decisions
  • Knowledge of content marketing strategies
  • Knowledge of web user experience

Skills and Abilities:

  • Demonstrates strong skills in developing and executing comprehensive marketing and communication plans.
  • Ability to prioritise own workload and manage deadlines
  • Ability to work collaboratively and facilitate across disciplines
  • Ability to analyse and interpret key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure campaign success and make informed adjustments.
  • Proven leadership abilities in delivering and communicating with authority
  • Effective Communicator: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and persuasively.

  • Degree in a relevant Subject
