About the role

The junior Scientific and Regulatory Affairs Manager monitors policy and regulatory developments on issues related to food science, regulatory affairs, and food legislation in the different areas of interest to the fruit and vegetable processing sector, such as nutrition, labeling, hygiene, and microbiological safety, contaminants, and plant protection products.

The Scientific and Regulatory Affairs Manager completes a dynamic team of four. He/she supports the team across a wide range of tasks and interacts with member organizations and company experts. Multifaceted role covering various aspects of food legislation, European policy-making, and trade association management. A small and cooperative team structure provides room for career growth.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and analyze EU policies and legislation relevant to the food industry sector, primarily in the field of food science and food legislation, and provide sound analysis and timely advice to the senior management and/or members regarding possible impact for the sectors;
  • Management of PROFEL’s Technical and Legislative Committee and several working groups, including drafting of agendas, meeting reports, and maintaining regulatory issue trackers up-to-date;
  • Participate in external stakeholder platforms and working group meetings;
  • Provide support with the day-to-day running of the association's secretariat and regular services to members such as handling members' queries, document distribution via the members' extranet, and contributions to news briefs;
  • Establish and maintain good working relationships with key stakeholders of the sector and relevant administrators in the EU Institutions, especially the European Commission and European Parliament;
  • Participate in the share of administrative tasks: updating address lists, uploading documents, and event administration.

Skills, Competencies & Experience

Skills, Competencies & Experience:

  • First relevant experience in the food industry, and EU affairs European Trade Association is a definite plus;
  • Excellent written and spoken command of English. Knowledge of another EU language is a plus;
  • Strong analytical skills in data collection and interpretation;
  • Service-oriented attitude towards members;
  • Strong interpersonal and intercultural skills;
  • Strong organizational skills, thorough and with attention to detail, and the ability to work independently;

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Master's level in Food Technology, Food Science, Agronomy, Bioengineering, Bioscience, Nutrition.
