About the Organisation

FIGIEFA is the European federation and political representative in Brussels of independent wholesalers and retailers of automotive replacement parts. Together with its 19 national member associations, it represents the interests of more than 30.000 companies trading in vehicle parts, components, and accessories throughout Europe.

FIGIEFA aims to safeguard a legislative environment in the EU that provides free and fair competition in the automotive aftermarket. In this context, ensuring continued access to technical information & digital data for independent market operators and the availability of replacement parts is crucial for our association in a rapidly changing automotive technology environment, particularly with the upcoming digital era. About the role

Head of Policy at FIGIEFA plays a critical role in shaping and guiding the organization’s advocacy efforts in the European regulatory landscape. FIGIEFA represents the interests of the independent automotive aftermarket, and the Head of Policy ensures that key decision-makers in the European Union and other relevant regulatory bodies hear the organization’s views and priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Develop advocacy and communication strategies for FIGIEFA;
  • Provide strategic guidance and counsel to the Association;
  • Ensure horizontal coordination with relevant colleagues on the political and Technical dossiers;
  • Manage the implementation of these strategies;
  • Liaise with FIGIEFA’s partner alliances;
  • Participate in meetings (in Brussels, EU, and International level) (EC, UNECE meetings, meetings with MEPs, FIGIEFA meetings, Alliance meetings) and assume responsibility for the management of the corresponding political subjects and dossiers;
  • Drafting of documents: position papers, reports, contributions to Commission consultations, articles, speeches, presentations;
  • Design the organization’s campaigns and provide general organizational support for the Association;
  • Represent FIGIEFA at conferences and events, which involve presentations and traveling at the EU level.

Skills, Competencies & Experience

  • Experienced preferably in the automotive or transport sector and field of the ‘digital economy
  • Professional experience (Around 15 years required) in the Brussels environment and a thorough understanding of the functioning of the European institutions;
  • Proficient in both written and spoken English. Knowledge of additional EU languages (German and French) is an advantage;
  • Interpersonal communicational skills to participate in meetings with business partners and counterparts;
  • Capable of assessing the business consequences of new legislation and (automotive) technologies;
  • Proactive person, capable of working on cooperation with the FIGIEFA Chief Executive

Required Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Law, Economics, and Political Sciences, and Specialisation in European Affairs
