About the Organisation

The department is a center of expertise at ICF Next and is responsible, notably, for (social) media relations, stakeholder engagement, paid media collaboration, and influencer marketing on projects executed on behalf of the EU institutions. The individual will coordinate and supervise the work of team managers and lead experts and will understand how to foster good cooperation and collaborative attitudes across teams. This includes the management of dependencies and ambiguities between the various tasks, coordination of the work progress, review and approval of technical reports and deliverables, and resolution of problems of an operational, contractual, and financial nature, notably with vendors.

About the role

Head of Media Relations at ICF Next is responsible for leading a department of up to 40 professionals, focusing on media-related projects and services for EU institutions. 

Responsibilities

  • Steering the work of the department, by managing and coaching team managers and lead experts daily;
  • Ensuring high-quality work: meeting professional standards and client expectations, by ensuring quality production processes are applied by the teams, closely monitoring key projects that require special attention (due to complexity or importance), and assisting the leadership team of the agency in the resolution of due time of any critical situation that may arise;
  • Ensuring the correct financial management of the department with the support of general management and ICF Next financial team (regular cost-controlling & reporting);
  • Good cooperation with the other ICF Next departments through regular meetings about work organization and key projects;
  • Staff members are working at their best level by encouraging team spirit, promoting professionalism, and supporting training needs, with the support of lead experts;
  • Facilitate new business development activities by ensuring the provision of adequate resources and facilitate the close collaboration of these resources;
  • Identifying recruitment needs and recruitment of experts with the input from team managers and ICF Next recruitment team;
  • Efficient workflows are in place and creative solutions are found for operational issues.

Skills, Competencies & Experience

  • Excellent managerial skills and team-oriented focus. Previous experience in a management position or similar is a must;
  • Strong interest in EU affairs and communication/media-related matters;
  • Self-motivated and self-directed and ability to work on own initiative, “can do” attitude;
  • Strong leadership, problem-solving, analytical, organizational, and planning skills;
  • Flexible with a great sense of responsibility and service and adaptability to changing workloads;
  • Collaborate effectively across multiple teams and stakeholders to achieve goals and able to demonstrate this capability in a department context;
  • Project management knowledge;
  • Fluent in French and English (written and verbal);
  • Excellent verbal, interpersonal, and written communication skills;
  • Previous management experience in a communication agency is desirable.
