About the Organisation

Eurometaux (Europe’s metals association) is an industry association for the European non-ferrous metals industry, providing an interface with European authorities and international or intergovernmental bodies. The membership includes companies, European associations, and national associations for mining, refining, smelting, and recycling of critical raw materials in Europe (aluminum, copper, nickel, zinc, silicon, lithium, cobalt, etc). Non-ferrous metals are energy transition enablers, being used in electric vehicles, batteries, solar panels, electricity cables, buildings, etc.

About the role

The Energy and Climate Policy Officer plays a crucial role in shaping, analyzing, and advocating for policies that support sustainable energy systems, climate resilience, and the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions. The role involves collaborating with government bodies, NGOs, private sector stakeholders, and international organizations to advance policy initiatives aimed at addressing climate change and energy transition challenges. Young Dynamic and professional international working environment. Responsibilities

Policy Analysis and Development:

  • Analyze and interpret national and international energy and climate policies, regulations, and legislation.
  • Provide strategic policy recommendations to promote renewable energy, energy efficiency, and low-carbon technologies.
  • Monitor policy trends and emerging issues related to climate change, carbon pricing, and energy security.

Advocacy and Engagement:

  • Engage with policymakers, industry stakeholders, and civil society to promote progressive energy and climate policies.
  • Represent the organization in meetings, working groups, and forums with governmental agencies, regulatory bodies, and advocacy coalitions.
  • Prepare advocacy materials, position papers, and briefings to support policy initiatives.

Research and Reporting:

  • Research energy markets, climate impacts, and environmental regulations to inform policy recommendations.
  • Draft reports, policy briefs, and research papers on climate change mitigation, adaptation, and energy transition strategies.
  • Stay updated on global climate negotiations and contribute to international climate action discussions.

Project Management:

  • Lead or support projects focused on energy policy, carbon reduction strategies, and climate resilience.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement energy and climate-related initiatives.
  • Manage timelines, budgets, and deliverables for policy-related projects.

Capacity Building and Technical Assistance:

  • Technical assistance to internal teams and external partners on energy and climate policy matters.
  • Deliver capacity-building workshops and training programs to strengthen stakeholder knowledge in energy efficiency, renewable energy, and climate adaptation strategies.

Stakeholder Collaboration:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with local, national, and international stakeholders in the energy and climate sector.
  • Coordinate with environmental groups, research institutions, and business leaders to align policy advocacy efforts.
  • Work closely with the communications team to disseminate policy positions and raise awareness on climate and energy issues.

Skills, Competencies & Experience

Skills, Competencies & Experience:

  • 2-5 years of relevant expertise in climate and energy legislation and energy-intensive industries, critical raw materials.
  • Strong understanding of energy systems, climate science, and environmental legislation.
  • Experience in policy development, advocacy, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and legislation.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with experience in report writing and public speaking.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and work under tight deadlines.
  • Experience working with government agencies, NGOs, and international bodies is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of global climate agreements (e.g., Paris Agreement) and regional energy policies.
  • Excellent team spirit, and experience working in one of the most strategic industries.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Public Policy, Energy Management, or a related field.
