We have more than 1,900 member companies from over 100 countries. Our members are public transport authorities and operators, policy decision-makers, research institutes, and the public transport supply and service industry.
About the role
The Communications Manager leads the communications activities on these projects. They develop and execute communications strategies to ensure visibility on UITP’s channels (website, social media, and newsletters), dedicated project channels, and with external media. The Communications Manager develops campaigns and creates content. They also coordinate the creation of content with external providers and content communications team members (specifically with the communications officer dedicated to R&I projects)
Responsibilities
- Lead UITP project communications, ranging from strategy development and project management to content creation and promotion
- Match the dissemination activities of projects with UITP communication plans; ensure project communication planning fits with the rest of UITP activities and the overall editorial strategy
- Define the strategy to ensure that project communication activities, knowledge,and output contribute to added value to benefit UITP members
- Manage and maintain the websites of third-party funded projects
- Manage the communications budget for third-party-funded projects
- Ensure optimal dissemination of knowledge and possibly complex/technical output through engaging content and campaigns (articles, videos, press, social media, etc.) on project channels and the various UITP channels
- Conduct project management activities related to communications, including attending events, coordinating and presenting at meetings, reporting statistics, contributing to proposal writing
- Representing UITP in external bodies on communications, conferences committees, EU initiatives, and others.
Skills, Competencies, & Experience
- 4–5 years of experience in communications.
- Proven experience in managing or contributing to EU-funded or third-party funded projects, including reporting and coordination tasks.
- Background in the EU environment is considered an asset.
- Experience in copywriting or journalism, with the ability to translate technical language into engaging content (written or visual).
- Solid project management skills.
- Strong ability to engage with international stakeholders (third parties or UITP members).
- Excellent written and spoken English (fluent or near-native).
- Proficient in design software such as Adobe Suite, Canva, or similar.
- Delivers high-quality work across multiple projects while meeting tight deadlines.
- Resilient and able to perform well under pressure.
- Proactive and creative mindset.
Required Qualifications
- Undergraduate Degree in Communications, Journalism, or a related field.
