About the role
The Communications Assistant has an integral role, supporting the Director and teams in successfully delivering on ambitious objectives. We’re looking for a detailed and efficient self-starter who can turn their hand to database management, diary management, sending out press releases, and offering support to the Communications Director, the RCR’s President, and also the Chief Executive.
As a Communications Assistant, you will be able to manage a varied workload in this multi-faceted role, whilst also being able to learn huge amounts about communications, digital, and public affairs. You will have demonstratable knowledge, interest, and experience of working within a Communications team, and have strong communication skills, with an understanding of how to effectively support senior executives.
Responsibilities
Communications Support:
- Update the communications planner and other organizational tools
- Assist with draft press releases – seeking amends and securing sign-off
- Draft and/or copy edit basic copy for relevant RCR communications as directed.
- Support an asset management system, ensuring that we have permissions for case studies, photographs, and other assets
- Develop and maintain information and support systems and databases suitable for stakeholder engagement activities and tracking
- Upload digital content
- Support the administration of our academic journals, including arranging meetings
- Assist with communications planning and scheduling
- Assist with the planning of logistics for member and public affairs events such as admission ceremonies.
- Compile regular media coverage reports and assist with analyzing the RCR’s performance
- Provide telephone cover in the absence of other team members Keep contact lists on the CRM up to date
- Assist with the production of the Annual Review Send out emails on request
- Produce PowerPoint presentations and other assets as required
- Undertake other general administration for the directorate including processing invoices, bookings, and arranging meetings, etc.
Secretarial Support:
- Support to the President, particularly around the Annual Dinner and Annual Drinks Reception, managing the invite list, sending out invitations, and coordinating the event
- Occasional support to the Chief Executive in arranging some multi-party meetings
- Some light support to the Executive Director, Communications by processing expenses, organizing meetings, making travel accommodation arrangements
Skills, Competencies & Experience
Knowledge, Qualifications & Experience:
- Demonstrated knowledge, experience, and interest in working within a Communications team
- Ability to manage databases, organize meetings effectively, and support administratively
- Ability to multi-task in a multi-faceted role
- Understanding of how to support senior executives effectively
Skills and Abilities:
- Accurate use and understanding of English
- Good writing and communication skills
- Great attention to detail
