About the Organisation

Eurogas is an association of over one hundred organizations across Europe, spanning the entire length of the gas value chain. Its members cover wholesale and retail gas markets, the distribution of natural renewable and low-carbon gases and their derivatives, and the use of gas in transport. Eurogas also represents technology providers including companies active in value-chain methane emissions management.

Eurogas is committed to accelerating the transition to climate neutrality through dialogue and advocacy on optimizing the use of gases. Together with its members it produces research, responds to consultations, provides input to studies, analyses the impact of EU political and legislative initiatives, and communicates key findings to EU stakeholders. An established structure of expertise ensures that Eurogas’ views are defined and endorsed by experts in the energy field

About the role

The Director of Communications and Events is a newly created role, designed to bring Eurogas' external visibility and engagement objectives under one hat. This leadership position will streamline strategic communications and event planning, ensuring a unified and impactful approach to promoting the organization’s vision and goals.

Responsibilities

Communication:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive communications strategy, aligned with organizational goals
  • Oversee external communications to ensure consistency in messaging across all platforms (Press releases, newsletters, website, social media)
  • Provide strategic counsel on key messaging, reputation management, and media relations
  • Lead media relations and act as a spokesperson for the association

Events:

  • Develop event concepts that engage stakeholders, drive advocacy, and strengthen Eurogas' leadership in the energy sector
  • Identify, approach, and secure event sponsorships to support the financial and promotional success of events
  • Oversee the planning, coordination, and execution of high-impact events, including conferences and workshops
  • Work with cross-functional teams to ensure events align with overall communication and advocacy strategies

General:

  • Work closely with internal teams and members to ensure consistency in messaging across all communications platforms.
  • Manage the budget for communications and events
  • Oversee EU funding projects
  • Supervise and mentor 4 team members (2 working on communications, 2 working on events)
  • Evaluate the performance of activities, providing insights on future improvement

Skills, Competencies & Experience

Skills and Experience:

  • Leadership role, with the ability to manage cross-functional teams and drive strategic initiatives
  • Experience in communications
  • Managing media relations
  • Understanding of EU policymaking
  • Excellent writing, editing, and presentation skills

Desired:

  • Demonstrated experience in event planning and execution of large-scale events
  • Energy sector, particularly in gas and renewable energy, is a strong asset
  • EU policy landscape (Fit for 55, REPowerEU)
  • EU public funding project management experience
  • Established network within the energy stakeholder landscape
