Campaigns Director
WeMove Europe
Start date
March 2025
About the Organisation
WeMove Europe is an international campaigning organization that seeks to build people the power to transform Europe on issues that matter including climate emergencies, migrant rights, workers' rights, better governance, and more. At the center of what we do are two key beliefs: that people hold the power to drive change, and that the Europe we live in today needs real, deep-rooted transformation so that its politics reflect the needs of people and the planet rather than corporations and profit.
When we all take action together we create something bigger than ourselves and build momentum for real political change. That is when politicians start listening to us, when big business feels the pressure when hope becomes a reality. And when we become unstoppable!
About the role
This is a senior leadership role reporting to the Executive Director and part of the Management Team. You will be responsible for shaping and optimizing WeMove Europe’s overall campaign package, as well as directing individual campaigns and - alongside other members of the Management Team - providing overall leadership for the organization.
As a Campaign Director, you will combine political insight, a deep understanding of our members’ priorities, and experience in agile digital campaigning to engage millions of Europeans in meaningful action. You’ll work closely with our campaigns team and our tech team to design, execute, and adapt campaigns to make the most of opportunities to deliver the change we want to see in Europe.
We're a small team and we get our hands dirty every day. You'll be responsible for the big picture, but you should also be ready and excited to work on the details to push the boundaries of what is possible for social change.
Responsibilities

- Regularly review active campaigns, leading the team to make decisions on which to scale up, scale down, or end
- Work with the Tech team to ensure alignment between technology initiatives and campaign objectives
- Provide guidance, support, and coaching to members of the campaign team
Political Insight & Relationships:
- Maintain a solid working insight into EU political developments, and apply it to campaign decisions to ensure WeMove’s campaigns are as effective as possible
- Support the campaigns team to develop effective political relationships
- Initiate and develop significant political relationships yourself

- Understanding and insight into community-led campaign models - which means you’ll also need a willingness to put your own opinions aside if they diverge from the priorities of WeMove Europe members
- Proven experience of at least 2-3 years in a leadership role - formal or informal - ideally within a campaigning organization, non-profit, or social enterprise, including a track record of being an effective line manager
- Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills, with the ability to craft and communicate a vision, engaging and bringing stakeholders at all levels of the organization with you
- Experience of developing long-term and rapid response campaign strategies that create impact
- Exceptional writing skills, along with the ability to support others to become strong writers through effective editing, feedback, and coaching
- Ability to develop campaigns, fundraising, comms, and growth strategies that can work across multiple countries, operating on an EU and national level. We’re not necessarily expecting you to have had this experience before - but we’d like to see how your previous experience has prepared you to do this
- Experience in developing and using political insight, good judgment, relationships, and nous to shape campaigns to have the best possible political impact
- Ability to navigate and analyze data and use it to inform campaign decisions. We’re not looking for deep data expertise, but do want to see whether you’ve got a track record of getting hold of data, getting to grips with it, and using it to help you make better decisions.
- Track record of getting to grips with tech tools, and confidence in learning how to use them. You don’t need to have used specific systems before, but we want to see that you’re able to learn new tech skills and approach the challenge proactively.
- Willingness to roll up your sleeves and get stuck into whatever is needed to succeed in a campaign. This is a leadership role that often involves being hands-on
