About the role
As the Branch & Membership Engagement Officer, you will support and deliver the LI’s engagement with our members. The role’s main objective is to maintain the positive experience our members get from the LI and make sure they are getting all that they can out of the LI’s products and services, whichever their grade of membership. They will support and develop our regional Branches and help maintain mutually supportive links between their engagement activities and the Institute. The postholder will be the key point of contact for our volunteers, as well as help with the membership operations delivery.
Responsibilities
Branch Support & Engagement:
- Advising our Branches Committees on all processes contained in the Branches Handbook and keeping this live resource up to date by scheduling yearly reviews of content in consultation with colleagues and Branches.
- Fielding queries from Branch members, both directly and via our dedicated branch's inbox.
- Project-managing the organisation and smooth and timely delivery of the Branch AGMs.
- Coordinating and overseeing Branch funding requests and processing them according to the agreed internal systems, liaising with Branch Treasurers and the LI Finance Team.
- Maintaining and updating the register of Branch committees on our CRM system.
- Supporting and leading the development and modernisation of our branches as part of delivering the Branch Review
Membership Engagement:
- Proactively promote and advise on opportunities for member engagement in activities across the Institute
- Support the development and implementation of the Institute’s member value proposition and ensure that this is regularly reviewed
- Monitor and oversee the Institute’s member engagement, including the development and delivery of meaningful metrics and measures on engagement and member satisfaction and feedback as part of organisational KPIs and priorities
- Work closely with the marketing and communications team to ensure that the Institute has a suite of resources to support and promote branch and member engagement across all types of membership, including Registered Practices
- In collaboration with the Director of Membership & Professional Standards, support the development of the Institute’s Fellowship grade, and work closely with the Marketing & Communications team to support College of Fellows events and activities
- Support the development and management of digital engagement opportunities with members
Membership Operations Delivery:
- As part of the Membership Services team, support the delivery of the membership operations functions, including the day-to-day running of membership tasks
- Maintaining relevant membership mailboxes and assigning tasks to other staff in the organisation where relevant
- Assisting with member and customer queries
- Ensure the onboarding process for members is smooth, efficient, and customer-oriented
- Provide administrative support as required
Volunteer Support & Engagement:
- As part of our member value proposition, support the development, growth, and engagement of volunteers in the Institute’s work
- Work with other parts of the organisation to promote and support volunteer engagement opportunities
General:
- Follow organisational policies and processes commensurate to your role and objectives
- Protect member data and ensure that our membership processes are GDPR compliant
- Input into the budget process and work with colleagues in finance as and when required
- Contribute to the development and delivery of the Institute’s business plan and associated Key Performance Indicators
- Work collaboratively with colleagues across the organisation in taking forward programmes of work
- Ensure that business development opportunities are maximised for the benefit of the Landscape Institute and its members
- Perform any other duties as reasonably required
Skills, Competencies & Experience
Essential:
- Experience of working in a membership organisation
- Experience in the strategic use of a CRM system
- Experience in working-group facilitation and administration – preparation of documents, action/note taking and being proactive to ensure project delivery
- Experience in managing budgets and finances
Desirable:
- Experience of working with a branch network
- Experience or knowledge of the landscape or built environment sector
- Experience working for a professional body with professional registration grades
- Experience in leading the development of a CRM system
- Experience working in a commercial environment
Desirable Skills:
- Very strong organisation skills with a business-like approach to tasks
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
- Good time management skills, with an ability to manage a complex workload
- Good teamwork skills, working internally with other departments, with members, and with other stakeholders and partners
