About the Organisation

EURASHE (European Association of Institutions in Higher Education) is a European organization that represents universities of applied sciences (UAS) and other higher education institutions that offer professionally oriented programs. Established in 1990, EURASHE advocates for the role of applied education in the European Higher Education Area (EHEA) and works to strengthen the links between higher education, research, innovation, and the labor market. EURASHE is the European Association for the Applied Sciences in Higher Education, representing institutions that offer professionally orientated programs and perform applied research within the Bologna cycles. 

About the role

The role of the Association is primarily to represent the interests of the applied sciences at the European level, contribute to policy development, and provide members with a platform for communication, information, and exchange. EURASHE also develops and implements international projects in line with its priorities, to better understand trends and approaches to higher education and applied research, gather input for policy positions, promote good practices, and share experience among members. 

Overall, a Policy and Project Officer for Research and Innovation plays a crucial role in supporting and advancing the research and innovation agendas of higher education institutions, contributing to policy development, and managing projects that enhance the impact of applied research within the European Higher Education Area.

Responsibilities

Policy and Project Officer:

  • Working closely with the EURASHE Secretary General and the Policy and Project Manager
  • Monitor European policies related to research and innovation, including the European 
  • Research Area, Horizon Europe and negotiations on the next framework program, and the European Regional Development Fund.
  • Inform and liaise with EURASHE members and the Board on policy development and Draft and present policy position papers.
  • Develop and implement projects including planning, organizing meetings, contributing to deliverables, maintaining documentation, and reporting.
  • General support in the organization of EURASHE events including annual conferences, seminars, peer-learning events, and working group meetings.
  • Interact with policy makers and stakeholders, and represent EURASHE at external meetings when required.

Skills, Competencies & Experience

Essential:

  • Minimum of two years’ work experience related to EU policies, preferably in the fields of higher education, research, and innovation
  • Experience in developing, reviewing, and synthesizing policies and EU documents, and communicating outcomes to a diverse and broad audience
  • Excellent command of English, both spoken and written
  • Previous work experience in an international environment
  • Excellent communication, organizational, interpersonal, and IT skills
  • Ability to work independently, under tight deadlines
  • Willingness to travel within Europe for project and policy meetings

Beneficial:
