Designing events with purpose

Your events as strategic tools: designing for maximum impact

With the continuously evolving and crowded event sector, associations face the critical task of ensuring that their events and programs not only engage their members but also advance their overarching organizational strategies. Implementing conscious event design—where every aspect of an event is thoughtfully curated to reflect and promote strategic goals—has emerged as a pivotal approach. This helps to ensure that events serve as powerful tools for reinforcing an organization's mission, fostering stakeholder alignment, and driving industry leadership.

In this seminar, we will explore an example of this approach through the European Hydrogen Week, co-organized by Hydrogen Europe, the European Commission, and the Clean Hydrogen Partnership. In its 2024 edition, the event attracted over 8,000 visitors, featured more than 220 exhibitors, and hosted over 1,000 delegates. The conference includes panel discussions with prominent stakeholders addressing pressing challenges in the hydrogen sector, such as regulatory frameworks, decarbonization across various sectors, and strategies for maintaining global industry leadership. Its continuous success is largely attributed to the meticulous design and adaptation of the event program to align with the strategic goals of all organizing bodies, ensuring value for diverse stakeholders and solidifying the event's status as a must-attend for industry experts.

Join Tina Marolt, Events Director of Hydrogen Europe and Managing Director of the European Hydrogen Week who shares her extensive event management experience and insights on how the organizing partners integrated the strategic goals in the event design.

Key learnings include:

  • Strategic Alignment: Ensuring that event themes and content directly support and reflect the association's mission and long-term objectives.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Designing programs that cater to the interests and needs of various stakeholders, from policymakers to industry professionals.
  • Innovative Showcasing: Providing platforms for the demonstration of cutting-edge technologies and solutions, enhancing attendee engagement and knowledge.
  • Comprehensive Networking: Facilitating opportunities for meaningful interactions among participants, fostering collaboration and community building.
