Q. Why are you not a traditional membership organisation, but have the title of an association?
A. We are a commercial organisation, The Networking Organisation Ltd, with a member network, the former name for which was Associations Network. Our members were advising us that the old name didn't represent what we actually provided them and produced, so we changed the name of the network to the more representative Association of Association Executives.
Q. Is the AAE a professional body?
A. The AAE is not a professional body, and by this we mean it does not set standards across association management, and it does not represent association employees. In most countries there are professional bodies for associations, please contact email@example.com if you would like to know which is most suitable for you.
Q. Who controls the AAE?
A. The AAE is controlled by the Managing Director of The Networking Organisation Ltd, Damian Hutt, who has been working in, starting and supporting associations since 1998.
Q. Do members have the right to vote?
A. There is no voting on general issues. We are a member/customer focused organisation, and you are invited to provide suggestions to firstname.lastname@example.org at all times.
Q. Is membership always going to be free of charge?
A. There will always be a free-of-charge membership. We are consulting members on a range of additional services for which there would be subscription fees.
Q. What does membership include?
A. Access to the Community Groups with forums and documents, Access to articles, Success Stories, Videos of talks from historic events, Association Insights magazine (three per year), Associations eBulletin (monthly), discounts on AAE and third-party events, and more.
